40-Hectare Industrial Greenhouse Project in Essex (UK)

In the Rivenhall area of Essex, England, a massive 40-hectare greenhouse is being developed with the goal of producing around 30,000 tons of tomatoes annually. A key feature of this project is the use of heat and CO₂ generated by a nearby waste-to-energy plant to supply the greenhouse. This system increases energy efficiency and significantly reduces environmental impacts. The project aims to replace tomato imports from Spain and boost the share of domestic production in the UK. It is significant not only economically, but also in terms of food security and reducing the carbon footprint. Its implementation will also create local job opportunities.
